TAQNIA Aeronautics focuses on transferring the technology in the aviation industry and meeting the demand. The main target customers are the Saudi Armed forces and the aviation defense. It is a project-oriented company that seeks to meet the high demand of the customers. By practicing its role, TAQNIA Aeronautics will be able to achieve one very important objective which is generating high skill level jobs for Saudi nationals, all engineering and technical jobs in all assembly lines will be exclusive to the nationality of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Saudis only. This strategy is meant to maximize the gain of the transferred technology.
In February 2016, Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, signed an agreement with TAQNIA Aeronautics to jointly explore helicopter production opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This agreement outlines the investment, technology and skills needed to establish production jobs for Saudi citizens, and could lead to direct involvement in the assembly of Sikorsky S-70 Black Hawk helicopters in the Kingdom.
TAQNIA Aeronautics will leverage the Space and Aeronautics Research Institute at KACST to ensure the success of this partnership, as previously done with the ANTONOV Project (AN-132), where we’ve seen major strides with.
The light-weight multipurpose transport aircraft is a result of the technology alliance that TAQNIA Aeronautics and KACST jointly established with Antonov.
AN-132 can cruise at an altitude of 28 thousand feet with a maximum payload of 9.2 tons, crossing a range of 1,270 kilometers at a speed of 550 kilometers per hour. The aircraft will also be able to performs aerial reconnaissance tasks, military tactical tasks as well as other uses.
With KASCT owning (50%) of the Aircraft’s intellectual property. TAQNIA Aeronautics is developing a manufacturing facility to produce the aircraft in Saudi Arabia that will serve local, regional and international demand. This partnership aims to transfer aircraft manufacturing know-how, develop Saudi talent, qualify local suppliers, and increase Saudi Exports and the non-oil GDP for the kingdom.
